The district capital was first mentioned in writing in 1234. Max-Josefs-Platz and the pedestrian zone are surrounded by magnificent town houses in the Inn-Salzach style. Typical of this architectural style are the vaults and oriels in the houses, which today invite you to go on a shopping spree or to linger in one or two cosy cafés.
Take a tour of the town with a visit to the municipal museum, the Holztechnisches Museum, the Inn Museum, the municipal gallery, where several art exhibitions are held annually, or the Lokschuppen with its special exhibitions. More information for a walk through the old town can be obtained at the reception.
Not to be forgotten is the annual "Rosenheim Autumn Festival". End of August/beginning of September, the Wies'n before the Wies'n in Munich!
The network of cycling paths along the rivers Inn and Mangfall, as well as around Lake Chiemsee, which covers approx. 2000 km, is ideal for long or short cycling tours. Of course, there are various rental stations for bicycles and also the possibility of a guided bike tour. Our tip for a nice bathing excursion: By bike you can reach the Lake Happing, a beautifully landscaped lake with shady trees and a small pub, in 5-10 minutes.
